Keep the Weight Off During Thanksgiving

How can it be that the summer is really over. The rising sun takes its time before it shines over the mountains. There is a chill in the air as you go for that walk in the morning. There is always so much to be thankful for and what better way to show it then food and family.

Soon you will be having the biggest cheat meal of the year. How can you resist the delicacies of Thanksgiving?

Maybe you have struggled with your weight lifelong or you just gained weight after pregnancy, whatever your history is, it is important to make your diet your lifestyle. Many people can recite back, it is not a diet it is a lifestyle. But how many truly own this saying and live it? Everyone has a diet, it just may not be helping you obtain a lower weight and improved health.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in men and women. Among the most important risk factors for cardiac disease are lack of exercise and poor diet.

I am sure you tried everything! How many feel that as soon as you look at food you gain weight, or no matter how much you exercise you don’t lose weight, or you lose weight initially but you never get to the ideal weight. All these scenarios can be so frustrating and disheartening. But it is possible to shed those pounds and keep them off even during Thanksgiving.

In all cases the rate of weight loss is directly related to the food intake and the energy used by the body. That is to say that the energy (food) that goes in should be less than the energy that comes out ( exercise, muscle, heat, illness) in order to lose weight. Of course, it is not as simple as that because there are genetics, hormones and age to contend with. Take for instance the difference in weight loss between a man and a woman. Men will almost always lose weight quicker because they have more lean body mass than women. Aging is also another issue, our metabolic rate declines by 2% with each decade. So given all those roadblocks how can we ever get to the ideal weight?

Luckily there are great ways to lose quickly, but you want to keep it off too. This takes not just a change in diet, but a change in the way you look at food. Food is for nourishment and enjoyment. When it becomes more than that it is a problem.

Ways that can help you get started on weight loss are the following:

Keep a diary to see not only what you eat, but why you eat.

Eat slowly and savor your food.

Cleanse monthly by using various tools including Isagenix.

Increase lean body mass by adding weight resistance training

Choose foods that are not processed or made outside of the home.

If you have to eat bread try Ezekiel Bread.
