IPL and Benefits of Resurfacing

You may have heard of IPL (Intensive Pulse Light) laser resurfacing as a treatment for hair removal, but did you know that it’s also a great way to rejuvenate your skin and reverse the signs of aging and sun damage? My name is Dr. Christine Eros, and I offer IPL at my San Diego office, Eros Beauty and Wellness, to help even out the tone of your skin, improve your skin’s texture, and help to reverse common signs of aging. In fact, there are more benefits to an IPL photo facial than just this.

Keep reading to find out if IPL is the treatment you’ve been looking for!

What is IPL photo facial?

IPL treatments work in several different ways. First, it stimulates collagen production. Collagen is a protein that replaces old, damaged skin with new, healthy skin cells. When the cells that have been damaged by the sun are replaced, the result is skin that looks and feels healthier and stronger. IPL can also treat UV damage done by years of sun exposure by drawing out cells that have been discolored by harmful UV rays. These cells are typically very deep within the dermis, but the light from the laser dissolves them with ease. This helps to remove age spots and excessive freckling that can appear with too much sun exposure, leaving you a beautiful, even complexion.

The Benefits of Resurfacing

Repairs Small Blood Vessels

Over time, the small blood vessels in our skin begin to become more visible. There are many reasons why these facial veins may become prominent: sun expose, age, hormones, trauma to the skin, amongst other reasons. IPL photo facial treatment helps dissolve pigmentation, treat blood vessel irregularities, and is effective in treating Rosacea.

Helps To Calm Acne

Acne has plagued us all at one point or another, and it’s not just a problem for those in their teens. I have patients in their early adulthood and older experiencing painful and problematic acne. Acne causes the skin to turn red and become inflamed, and that’s precisely where IPL photo facial can help. IPL can help to shrink enlarged pores and reduce acne breakouts.

Redness of Rosacea

Rosacea is another common skin issue that is extremely difficult to address at home. Rosacea causes the skin to become red and splotchy. IPL can help reduce the appearance of redness in your skin and give you a more even, healthy complexion.

It Can be Easily Combined With Other Treatments

Some facial treatments cannot easily be combined with other treatments as they might require significant downtime or have side effects that need you to wait. IPL can be used in conjunction with chemical peels or microneedling that focus on the outermost skin layers because IPL targets the skin’s inner layers.

Reverses the Signs of Aging

Aging is universal, but IPL can help address common signs of aging by stimulating the natural growth of collagen. This new collagen growth will improve the texture, tone, and appearance of the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
